New Year: New Start

The start of the new year feels a little like the first day of school and a little like spring (cleaning).

Like getting new pencils and pens, I like to start the year with fresh replacements for some of the tired, way-past-their-expectancy household items.

This year I think I will go through my dishtowel drawer and throw out all of the icky ones with holes and stains. My mom believes in beginning every new year with new dishtowels. While visiting my mother for Christmas, I was inspired to also start fresh with sleeping pillows. Her guest room is so comfortable with large fluffy pillows. She bought hers from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I will be checking them out as some of ours are flat, lifeless, and definitely not fluffy.

This time of the year, I also like to clean out my closets and pantry.

I want to start the year with a clear head which means I need order in my house. Actual cleaning is essential too. Made right here in Orlando are these great smelling cleaning products by City Maid Green.

Great for the kitchen. This eucalyptus cleaner is one of my favorites.

This mint eucalyptus cleaner is my first choice for wiping down my countertops.

I used to have a great wood cleaner that smelled of coconuts almost like Hawaiian tropic sunscreen from the days of not caring about spf. It is all used up, and I haven’t found it again. In the meantime, I will try out this orange scented wood polisher to see if I can replicate the delicious orange blossom scent, that it isn’t quite time for yet, here in Orlando.

A new year brings new projects.

It is also a good time to reevaluate the next home improvement project.

A banquette in the living room is at the top of the list. Something low and deep with lots of pillows to lean back against the wall.

Lastly, is cleaning out my body. My margarita-a-day policy in Arizona over the holidays means extra workouts now at my favorite spot. Bar Move with Mimi should do the trick. Ouch.
