Women seem to be advancing at a greater pace reaching top positions which benefits us all due to their talent, knowledge, and care.

Kamala Harris will become the next Vice-President of the United States. Regardless of your political proclivities, a celebration is in order. What a giant step forward for our daughters, our sisters, and ourselves.

This post is a tribute to the women who are blazing the path ahead. Some of them did so long ago.

Females of nature.

Mary Delany (1700-1788) created lifelike portraits of flowers using cut paper. Mind you she did this in her 70’s without current electrical benefits.

Her close to 1000 works are valued for their scientific accuracy. They reside in the British Museum.

The Paper Garden, by Molly Peacock, tells her story.

Similarly, Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717) was a trailblazer in the fields of entomology and botany. She was the first person to travel transatlantically for scientific purposes.

Stella McCartney is a true inspiration. Not only does she design chic desirable clothing, she does so without harming animals. Her influence has ameliorated some of the repugnant habits of the fashion industry. Stella proves that clothes don’t require fur or leather to be beautiful.
