Vampire en Vogue

The Vampire’s Wife, a line of unconventionally sexy clothing, casts a spell on the wearer transforming her into a witch goddess.

The Vampire’s Wife originated when Susie Bick Cave made a few dresses for friends. Susie, once a muse to many, is now the creator with muses of her own. The line, founded in 2014, initially featured dresses. These dresses appear simple and a bit frumpy, yet they were all the rage of certain stylish celebrities. Moda Operandi featured the line on their site. My mind took note. The second time it appeared on MO my resistance was down.

The Vampire’s Wife has a strong celebrity following.

Two dresses made their way to my shopping cart. The first dress just arrived last week. My obsession is in full force even from only wearing the dress inside my closet. The dress is stunningly structured and extremely flattering. There is no need for a closet full of these long gypsy-like dresses, yet the desire for them says otherwise.

Ms. Cave’s bewitching appearance is the best advertisement for the line.

Ms. Cave created a world of enchanting clothes and now jewelry seemingly spun from a magical land. Her husband Nick Cave, frontman of the band the Bad Seeds, came up with the name The Vampire’s Wife from an abandoned novel he initiated concerning the relationship between a muse and the creative process. Her gold and jeweled charms were born from Nick’s songs, such as “Mermaids” and “Where the Wild Roses Grow”.

Singer Florence Welch perfectly describes how it feels to wear a dress from the line. “I guess when I was a little girl I dreamed of dresses like these, the mix of femininity and slight witchery. The Vampire’s Wife is some powerful magic, you can feel it when you wear it. Susie is in every piece, in all her delicateness and hidden strength.”
