Clair was my neighbor in Winter Park. She lives in a beautiful house perfect for Florida living. Her house overlooks a lake whose breezes keep her cool when she naps on her balcony. When I go into Clair’s house, I rethink my own. Artists always have the best homes. Hers is elegant yet casual. White walls, dark floors, ceilings just the right amount of tall, antiques with gleaming wood, and lots of art. The house wonderfully showcases the art – large pieces, small intricate ones, and sculpture.

Clair and her family love to travel. They take amazing trips, and they take them often.
We don’t have family in town so Christmas has always been just us with our 2 adult kids which was becoming a little too quiet and repetitive. So years ago we started planning a big trip for the Christmas holiday rather than gifts. My favorite Christmas Trip was on safari in Tanzania and Kenya. It was very relaxing being so far removed from the hectic frenzy that Christmas can become- sitting under the stars around a campfire on Christmas Eve was especially memorable. This year we are heading to Patagonia and will draw names for a gift exchange before the trip with a theme of travel related gifts . I have in mind easy to pack items that can be used on the trip…active wear, travel games, travel essentials for long flights.
